K-Way Adventure Series 70L Hiking Backpack – Review
K-Way Adventure Series 70L Hiking Backpack – Review
I purchased the K-Way Adventure series 70L backpack during April 2019 to use on the 6 day Amatola Hiking Trail in Hogsback. I was pleasantly surprised that I managed to fit all my gear, clothing and food in this backpack when I normally struggle with the 75L backpack that I had before. There are some very clever design features with this bag that I would like to share with you.
It has open, concealed pockets behind the side pockets that allow you to slide long objects in behind the pockets themselves and to secure them in the webbing below the pockets. These long items can include tents poles, hiking poles and leg splints.
The interior of the bag is made with a light in colour material that allows you to see what is at the bottom of the bag in dim lighting conditions. The back support is really good and the waist straps that you use to tighten the waist strap, after putting the backpack on, pulls tight towards the inside and forwards, instead of outwards, which makes it much easier to tighten the waist strap and to take the weight off your shoulders.
I was really happy with the addition of a stretchy webbing material on the front of the backpack which I used to fit my 30 metre rescue rope into. The two added horizontal straps that clip in across the front of the backpack kept the rope securely in place. There are even small pockets sewn into the waist band itself which I found very useful for a hiking map, snacks or useful smaller items that you want to keep close at hand like medical gloves or a head torch.
The final clever design feature of this backpack is the rather wide circular zip in the front of the backpack. This allows you to access the entire contents of the backpack without having to open it at the top and dig inside until you find what you are looking for.
